Can someone tell me how to make a website? What do I have to do.
Now there's an interesting question. It isn't easy, primarily because there are a bunch of different ways to go about it. It seems that once people pick a method, they go with that no matter what.
The first way is to get an html editor, and click on the buttons and everything--and eventually you may get what you want. This is the sighted guy's method: because you don't have to learn anything and you just kind of blunder in to it. Lots of folks create a web page with Microsoft word, but it really puts out some lousy inefficient code.
The second way is to find a good html tutorial, learn html, and create your web page from scratch. This is the more tedious method, but much more satisfying in the end.
A good web tutorial is the w3c online schools. It can be found at http://www.w3schools.com/.
Send me a private message or email me if I can help further. However, be fore-warned, I am just learning too.
Thanks,
Bob
Thanks you for that.
visit my site for more info, I use ms word for my site and it's pretty easy to get started. www.martin-wilsher.co.uk. Look for the technical support section of the site and go from there.
Interesting I may go check out that www.w3schools.com site that blbobby mentioned.
Hi.
You really need to think of alot of things before your site goes live.
Some stuff of the top of my head.
1: Cost
If you wanna do things properly, your going to incure some cost along the way of making a site for example webhosting and a domain.
Domains:
Domains cost from $2.99 to $10, both for a .com.
This is paid yearly and you can think of it as a shortcut to your website.
You can get free domains for example www.dot.tk or www.uni.cc etc etc, but there not as good.
Hosting:
Your site will need to be hosted somewhere (on a server); these are very good computers that have very fast internet connections.
Hosting can cost from $1 pm too well $xxx pm.
Again you can get free hosting, but you will most lightly have to put adverts on your site in return.
2: Content
You need to diside what your site is about, and this will some what influence your choice of hosting and will influence your choice of a domain.
You have to think if its some site like a computer fan site, what are you actually going to put on it and will you realistickly be able to put what you said on it?
3: Marketing
Lets use the same example of a computer fan site for this.
Think how many computer fan sites there are out there?!?! Why shood people join yours?
Couple of things come up here:
Is the name markitable?
Hmmm, which one are you going to remember? computerfansite.com or myfirstsiteaboutcomputers.com?
If your domain is short, then people will remember it and come back.
Content&presentation
If your site is going to have bad spelling and a forum with 0 users, people aren't going to come back; if you have to do a forum, wait untill the site gets popula then lornch one.
4: Profit&loss
From what you said, i don't think your going to have to get servers and servers to acomidate your site, but who knoes?
Loss:
If you are paying for lodes of hosting, advertising and every domain that you can think of, you will find it hard to make money unless you are selling something, so balance it out; see if your isp gives you any free webspace, most do.
This is beter than a paid host as you kno if they are good or not and you get it free with your internet acsess.
Profit:
There are progrmas such as google addsence that let you put adverts on your site which ajust themselfs to be about your site in return for cash.
Msn me or post for more info, ben.

w3schools is a good site for reference in almost any type of web design out there. HTML coding is simple once you get to know it fairly well. I've done web design for 6 yrs now and I still go to the tutorials. And w3schools has a neat feature where you can test certain codes in a preview pane. I use their tryit editor before I put a page up on the site. Go to my website for a example. But I agree: Cost, Content, and Design need to come into consideration. And it takes months for a great site to come alive. Mine has been live for 2 yrs going on 3 and I'm still updating or editing. Once you have a direct template down of how you want things to look save it, and use it for future references. Also..... Angelfire has a generator tool (basic web design) where all you have to do is type in what you want. Preview it, content then submit it. Angelfire does all the hard core labor for you. Angelfire has both free/paid accounts. But beware, I heard they have the little visualization thingy where you have to type whats in the image. Once someone helps you over come that obsticle it's pretty accessible and easy to use from there on out.
I hope this helped.
My site I will add things as I go along. Thank you that was alot but, it was worth it. I hope I have a site before 2010. Is their a number I can call?
Hi all
There is also a really cool book by Todd Staufer called Absolute beginners guide to creating webpages. It is long but should get you started if you want to learn HTML and have the patience to take the long route
These folks have given you some really great advice.
Yeah it does take some time.
If you use free hosting it will take some host changing to.
BEN.
